Data Visualization
Designing Peace
On Wednesday the 23rd of November, me and the rest of the graphic design class went to the Museum of Design to see one of the exhibitions that they had, which was called "Designing Peace" which was a whole exhibition dedicated to pieces of design and art that were made to promote and fight for peace between all people. All of these designs were done through a certain style of design that was called data visualization, data visualization is a type of design that tells the viewer a message without explicitly telling them through words. Many of the examples of data visualization that I saw, used a tool called a "Key" which showed and helped the viewer know what she or he is looking at, and it usually helps them make special and significant connections. After some evaluation I realized that I can take this style of design and these tools to add to my own work when needed, I can already see myself using the "Key" when designing complicated and complex designs that require deeper explanation, these tools can help data visualization become more obvious and apparent, while also pushing forward the message that I am trying to get across.
